Russell Brand Awaits CPS Decision on Sex Charges

The Metropolitan Police have submitted a file to the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) regarding historical sexual offence allegations against comedian Russell Brand. This follows a 13-month investigation involving multiple interviews with Brand, who has been accused of rape, sexual assault, and emotional abuse by several women. The allegations, which Brand denies, date from 2006 to 2013 during his time as a high-profile media figure. The investigation was initiated after reports surfaced from The Sunday Times and Channel 4's Dispatches in September 2023. Detective Superintendent Andy Furphy confirmed the ongoing support for the alleged victims and reiterated the commitment to investigate such offences regardless of the time elapsed. The CPS will now decide whether to bring charges against Brand.
