Andrés Pérez de Lara Debuts NASCAR Xfinity Mexico City After 17-Year Hiatus
Andrés Pérez de Lara, a 20-year-old Mexican driver and 2024 ARCA Menards Series champion, will make his NASCAR Xfinity Series debut at the highly anticipated Chilango 150 on June 14 at Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. Competing with DGM Racing in the No. 91 Chevrolet, Pérez de Lara will race in front of his home crowd during the first NASCAR Xfinity race in Mexico in 17 years, backed by primary sponsors Telcel and Infinitum. Currently a full-time competitor in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series for Spire Motorsports, Pérez de Lara is a rising talent in NASCAR, with a best Truck Series finish of seventh in his rookie season. His participation highlights the international expansion of NASCAR and follows in the footsteps of notable Mexican drivers such as Adrián Fernández and Daniel Suárez, the latter also set to compete in the race for JR Motorsports. This event offers Mexican fans a rare opportunity to witness top-tier NASCAR racing on home soil, strengthening the sport's presence in the country. Pérez de Lara's debut also marks an important milestone as he becomes the sole local driver representing Mexico in this national NASCAR event.
