Schneider Electric Investigates Data Breach by Hackers

Schneider Electric is investigating a cybersecurity incident after hackers, claiming to be from the group HellCat, breached its Atlassian Jira system and allegedly stole 40GB of sensitive data, including over 400,000 rows of user information. The hackers have demanded a ransom of $125,000, threatening to leak the stolen data if their demands are not met, and they have provided proof of the breach on social media. Schneider Electric confirmed that its Global Incident Response team has been activated and asserted that its products and services remain unaffected by the incident. This breach follows another ransomware attack earlier in the year targeting the company's Sustainability Business division. The HellCat group, which emerged recently, has also claimed attacks on other organizations, including educational institutions. Schneider Electric has yet to specify when the breach occurred or provide further details about the impact on their operations.
