Verity Film Adaptation Starring Dakota Johnson

Amazon MGM Studios has announced that Dakota Johnson and Josh Hartnett will join Anne Hathaway in the film adaptation of Colleen Hoover's bestselling novel, Verity. Directed by Michael Showalter, the script is penned by Nick Antosca, with previous drafts by a team of writers including Hoover herself. The plot follows struggling writer Lowen Ashleigh, hired by Jeremy Crawford (Hartnett) to finish his wife Verity's unfinished books after a mysterious accident. As Lowen delves into the project, she uncovers unsettling family secrets through a secret manuscript. Verity, which was self-published in 2018 and sold over 1 million copies in 2023, is described as a gothic, psychosexual thriller. The film is set for a theatrical release and capitalizes on Hoover's recent success in the film adaptation arena.
