Three Crashes Kill Multiple People in U.S., NZ

Three separate crashes this week in the U.S. and New Zealand left multiple people dead and others injured. West of Boca Raton on Yamato Road near Lakeridge Boulevard, an 84-year-old passenger, Marina Villalobos, was killed and two others were hospitalized after a Hyundai turning left was struck; investigators say no charges have been filed as the probe continues. In Whanganui East, New Zealand, a single-vehicle crash on Anzac Parade at the Aramoho railway bridge on Sept. 20 killed the sole occupant and the Serious Crash Unit is investigating. In north Lubbock, a Sept. 18 evening crash in the 200 block of Indiana Avenue killed 44-year-old Jousef Hernandez Cotto after his car veered across lanes, struck a metal fence and multiple vehicles and collapsed a covered parking roof; an officer rendered aid but Cotto was later pronounced dead and initial findings indicate a self-inflicted wound prior to the collision as major crash units continue to investigate.
