Mickey Moniak Wins Arbitration Against Angels
Mickey Moniak, an outfielder for the Los Angeles Angels, won his salary arbitration case, resulting in a $2 million salary over the team's $1.5 million offer. This decision was made by arbitrators Melinda Gordon, Samantha Tower, and John Woods. Moniak, who earned $770,000 last year, had a batting average of .219 with 14 home runs and 49 RBIs. In other arbitration news, right-hander Jovan Oviedo lost his case against the Pittsburgh Pirates and will earn $850,000 instead of the $1.15 million he requested. Meanwhile, reliever Mark Leiter Jr. became the first New York Yankees player to go to a hearing since 2017, asking for $2.5 million with a decision yet to be announced. San Diego pitcher Michael King and Milwaukee catcher William Contreras avoided hearings by settling for $7.75 million and $6.1 million, respectively.
