Large Warehouse Fire Engulfs Southeast London Industrial Estate

A large fire broke out at an industrial estate in southeast London, specifically in a scrap yard warehouse on Maypole Crescent in Erith, involving a single-storey warehouse, three diggers, and numerous vehicles. Around 150 firefighters and 25 fire engines responded, using two 32-meter turntable ladders and a fire boat to combat the blaze, which caused smoke to cloud the London skyline and prompted local residents to keep windows and doors shut. The London Fire Brigade has issued warnings about the heightened risk of wildfires during the ongoing heatwave and urged the public to act responsibly, including avoiding disposable BBQs in parks and disposing of cigarettes properly. The cause of the fire remains under investigation. In a separate incident, a large rubbish fire in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, was believed to have been started deliberately and involved cylinders, with multiple fire crews working to extinguish it.
