Man Charged with Murder, Kidnapping, and Arson
Huangting Gong, a 30-year-old man from Glendale, California, is accused of murdering an Orange County couple, Kuanlun Wang and Jing Li, to whom he allegedly owed $80,000. On October 12, Gong reportedly met Wang in a desert, shot him in the head, and later killed Li after forcing her to divulge her phone's password. Gong is said to have transported and burned their bodies in their respective Teslas in different desert locations to conceal the crime. He was charged with multiple felonies, including murder, kidnapping, arson, and burglary, and faces a potential life sentence without parole or the death penalty if convicted. Gong was arrested on November 5 at Los Angeles International Airport after being identified through a surveillance video. The case has drawn attention due to the brutal and calculated nature of the crimes.
