Detroit's 99th Thanksgiving Parade Set for Nov. 27
The Parade Company revealed the lineup for the 99th America’s Thanksgiving Parade, presented by Gardner White, set for Thanksgiving morning on Nov. 27 down Woodward Avenue with the theme Thanksgiving is Better in Detroit and airing live on WDIV Local 4. Grand marshals are Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and longtime WDIV anchor Devin Scillian; celebrity guests include Detroit-native Emmy winner Sam Richardson, Christopher McDonald, former Lions running back Dexter Bussey, Miss Michigan Hannah Palmer, costumed characters SpongeBob and Patrick, and a new big-head sculpture of Tigers broadcaster Kirk Gibson, and eight new floats will debut. The parade will open with a performance of Can You Feel the Love Tonight from The Lion King; WDIV's pre-parade coverage begins at 6 a.m., the parade show starts at 9 a.m., and the main parade runs into the late morning. Parade Company president and CEO Tony Michaels said organizers are elated to bring the long-running tradition to Detroit as they approach the event's 100th anniversary next year.
