A suspect, 31-year-old Marquea Cato, has been arrested for a shooting at a Phoenix construction site on September 1, which left one worker dead and another critically injured. The incident, which took place near 39th Street and Thomas Road, involved an argument between Cato and the victims, 48-year-old Alan David Whitworth and 19-year-old Jamal Avery. Cato allegedly returned to the scene shortly after the argument with a firearm and shot both men multiple times. Whitworth died at the scene, while Avery remains hospitalized. Cato was identified through witness accounts and surveillance footage, and he faces charges of murder and attempted first-degree murder with a bail set at $2 million. His arrest occurred without incident near 40th Street and McDowell Road.
