Uber Plans 100,000 Nvidia-Powered Robotaxis by 2027

Uber and Nvidia announced a partnership to deploy 100,000 robotaxis starting in 2027, using Nvidia's AI infrastructure and Drive AV software platform to enable Level 4 autonomous driving. Automakers such as Stellantis, Lucid, and Mercedes-Benz are collaborating with Nvidia to provide vehicles equipped with the necessary hardware and sensors, with Stellantis targeting production of at least 5,000 robotaxis by 2028. Uber will manage fleet operations including remote assistance, charging, and maintenance, aiming to expand autonomous vehicle offerings alongside human drivers. Additionally, Uber is investing $100 million in Chinese robotaxi companies Pony AI and WeRide to strengthen its position in the fast-growing autonomous vehicle market in China and globally.
