OpenAI, Meta Explore AI Partnerships With Reliance in India

OpenAI and Meta Platforms are in discussions with Reliance Industries to establish partnerships aimed at expanding their artificial intelligence presence in India. A significant aspect of the collaboration includes the potential reduction of ChatGPT's subscription fee from $20 to a much lower price, possibly just a few dollars, to enhance accessibility for Indian users. Reliance, led by Mukesh Ambani, is also planning to build the world's largest data center in Jamnagar, Gujarat, to support the hosting and running of OpenAI and Meta's models, ensuring compliance with India's data localization regulations. The discussions may also involve Reliance selling OpenAI's models through an API to enterprise customers. Both OpenAI and Meta have not publicly commented on the negotiations, but the prospective partnership could greatly benefit their market presence in India.
