Damian Lewis Joins Annual London Sheep Drive

Hollywood actor Damian Lewis participated in a centuries-old tradition by herding sheep across London's Southwark Bridge, wearing his grandfather's wool coat and carrying a shepherd's crook. This event celebrates the medieval right of 'Freemen of the City of London' to drive their sheep toll-free across the bridge, which has been revived annually since 2013. Lewis described the experience as 'eccentric' and 'very fun', acknowledging his deep family ties to the City of London. The event also serves as a fundraiser for the Woolmen Charity and the Lord Mayor's Appeal, addressing pressing societal issues in London. Lewis, who studied at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, has acknowledged his family's long-standing connection to the city's governance.
