49ers' Ricky Pearsall Out After Shooting

Rookie wide receiver Ricky Pearsall of the San Francisco 49ers has been placed on the reserve/non-football injury list, ruling him out for at least the first four games of the 2024 NFL season following a gunshot wound sustained during an attempted robbery on Saturday. Pearsall was shot in the chest while on his way to a signing event, but the bullet did not hit any vital organs, and he has since been discharged from the hospital in fair condition. The 49ers have signed offensive tackle Brandon Parker to fill Pearsall's roster spot, as starting left tackle Trent Williams is currently in a contract holdout. Concerns remain regarding Pearsall's mental health following the traumatic incident, and the team may provide counseling resources. The earliest Pearsall could return would be against the Arizona Cardinals on October 6. The suspect, a 17-year-old, has been apprehended and is in stable condition.
