Pegula Beats Raducanu; Kartal Reaches Last 16
Emma Raducanu was eliminated from the China Open in the third round when world No. 7 Jessica Pegula recovered to win in three sets, taking the final set 6–0 after Raducanu failed to convert three match points. Pegula saved those match points with two backhand down-the-line winners and a forced error before dominating the decider. Raducanu had reached the third round by beating Cristina Bucsa in straight sets, showing improved serving and variety. Fellow Briton Sonay Kartal progressed to the last 16, while top players including Iga Swiatek also advanced as the tournament in Beijing continues. The China Open runs through Oct. 5.
