Bushra Bibi Granted Bail in Corruption Case

Bushra Bibi, the wife of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan, has been granted bail by a Pakistani high court after nearly nine months of imprisonment related to the Toshakhana corruption case, which involves allegations of illegally selling state gifts. The Islamabad High Court accepted her bail plea against a surety bond of Rs 1 million, with the judge confirming that no additional investigation was necessary. Bibi was arrested following a court ruling that convicted both her and Khan on January 31, sentencing them to 14 years in jail. Despite her release, legal challenges persist for both, as they face multiple cases since Khan's ousting in a no-confidence vote. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf party has criticized the authorities for delaying Bibi's release and claims the charges are politically motivated. Khan remains incarcerated in Adiala Jail amidst ongoing legal battles, which he argues are orchestrated by the military to undermine his political career.
