Surviving Idaho Roommate Describes Masked Man in Bodycam Footage

Newly released body camera footage from Idaho police reveals the harrowing account of surviving roommates from the 2022 University of Idaho murders, where four students were fatally stabbed by Bryan Kohberger. One roommate, Dylan Mortensen, described hearing Kaylee Goncalves scream after encountering an unknown man, later identified as Kohberger, who was dressed in black and wore a mask. Mortensen recounted that Goncalves ran downstairs after yelling, "Someone’s here!" and that she heard a man's voice saying, "You’re gonna be okay, I’m gonna help you," though his tone was described as "weird." Mortensen also described briefly seeing the man, who did not speak to her and exited through a side kitchen door. Police discovered the victims—Kaylee Goncalves, Madison Mogen, Xana Kernodle, and Ethan Chapin—at the off-campus house on King Road in Moscow, Idaho, after responding to the scene on November 13, 2022. Kohberger has since pleaded guilty and received four life sentences for the murders.
