NBA stars Russell Westbrook and Kemba Walker, along with Donnell Beverly Jr., have launched Eazewell, a Los Angeles-based, AI-powered funeral planning platform with 11 employees. The service aims to ease the burden of funeral arrangements by automating paperwork, securing funeral home quotes, canceling accounts, and providing financial assistance to grieving families. Motivated by personal losses, including the deaths of Beverly's parents and Westbrook's childhood friend Khelcey Barrs III, the founders seek to bring empathy and efficiency to the process. Eazewell is free, ad-free, available nationwide, and has already helped over 1,000 families during its beta phase. The platform features a voice-activated AI assistant and 24/7 chatbot support, while building partnerships with funeral service, life insurance, and finance companies. Westbrook, currently in the NBA playoffs, describes Eazewell as an extension of his leadership beyond basketball.
