Governor Ivey Awards $3.7M for 13 Alabama Road Projects

Governor Kay Ivey announced over $3.7 million in state funding awarded to cities and counties for 13 road projects across Alabama as part of the final round of the Alabama Department of Transportation's Annual Grant Program under the Rebuild Alabama Act. This act, signed in 2019, mandates a minimum of $10 million annually from the state's gas tax revenue to support local infrastructure projects, with more than $70 million awarded for over 500 projects statewide since its passage. Local governments are contributing over $2.4 million in matching funds, and all projects must begin within a year of funding allocation. Governor Ivey emphasized the commitment to safer and stronger communities, stating that these investments will benefit future generations of Alabamians.
