Nintendo Confirms Backward Compatibility for Switch 2

Nintendo's upcoming console, widely referred to as the Switch 2, will be backwards compatible with existing Nintendo Switch games and support Nintendo Switch Online. This announcement was confirmed by Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa and is aimed at ensuring continuity for over 100 million users. The new console is expected to be unveiled by the end of the fiscal year, March 2025, with a release possibly occurring mid-year. While specific features beyond backwards compatibility have not been detailed, the console may retain a similar hybrid design to the original Switch. Rumors suggest the console will have a larger screen and a universal black and white color scheme.
