Juventus secures Renato Veiga loan from Chelsea

Renato Veiga is set to join Juventus on loan from Chelsea for the remainder of the season, with the Italian club agreeing to cover his wages and paying a loan fee of approximately £4 million. The deal does not include an option to buy, allowing Veiga to return to Chelsea ahead of the Club World Cup in June. The 21-year-old defender, who has primarily played in cup competitions at Chelsea, expressed a desire to play in his preferred position as a central defender, a role he is expected to fill at Juventus, especially after the team suffered injuries to key defenders. Despite interest from Borussia Dortmund, Juventus managed to secure Veiga's services after Chelsea became more open to the loan arrangement. Veiga's versatility and performance in cup matches earned him a call-up to the Portugal national squad, increasing his ambition for playing time as he looks ahead to the 2026 World Cup. Chelsea's manager, Enzo Maresca, had previously urged Veiga to adapt to different positions for his career development.
