Ireland's Orla Prendergast Wins ICC Women's Player of Month August

Ireland's Orla Prendergast has been named ICC Women’s Player of the Month for August 2025 after an outstanding series of performances, including being Player of the Series in Ireland's 2-1 T20I home series win against Pakistan. At 23, Prendergast scored 144 runs and took four wickets in the Pakistan series and continued her form in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Europe Qualifier, accumulating 244 runs at an average of 48.80 with seven wickets. She is the fifth Irish woman to receive this accolade, following Eimear Richardson, Laura Delany, Arlene Kelly, and Amy Hunter, with Harry Tector having won the men's award in May 2023. Prendergast highlighted that the award validates her decision to pursue cricket professionally, noting the progress in visibility and support for women's cricket globally. She acknowledged the contributions of her teammates and support staff and emphasized the importance of visibility for inspiring young girls to participate in the sport. Looking ahead, Prendergast and Ireland aim to build on these successes in upcoming winter series and the Global T20 qualifiers in January.
