Goodyear Introduces New Right-Side NASCAR Tire For Kansas, Las Vegas

Goodyear is introducing new right-side tires for both the NASCAR Cup Series and Xfinity Series at the Kansas Speedway playoff weekend to address significant tire wear issues experienced in recent races. These new tires, paired with a proven left-side Goodyear Racing Eagle used at similar 1.5-mile tracks, aim to provide teams with enhanced strategic options by balancing grip and speed. Each Cup Series team will receive 10 sets of tires, while Xfinity teams will get six sets for practice, qualifying, and the main race, with this tire setup also planned for the upcoming race at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Justin Fantozzi, Goodyear's operations manager for global race tires, emphasized that Kansas presents unique challenges due to its smooth surface and multiple grooves, which have led to notable tire wear, and the new tire construction changes are intended to optimize race strategy and competition. The new right-side tire compounds are expected to shake up race dynamics and improve the overall competitiveness of the events, which have faced criticism over tire performance inconsistencies this season.
