Mother and Son Sentenced for Murder in Naperville

Candice Jones, 44, and her son Ernest Collins, 28, were sentenced for their roles in the 2018 murder of 20-year-old Michael Armendariz in Naperville. Collins received a 70-year sentence for murder and an additional 28 years for armed robbery, while Jones was sentenced to 40 years for murder and 28 years for robbery. The pair, along with accomplice Cassandra Green, conspired to rob Armendariz, leading to his execution-style shooting after he was lured into a vehicle. Following the murder, the body was hidden in a trash container at Jones' residence in Chicago and later moved to a vacant property. Both defendants will serve their sentences in full without the possibility of parole. Green, who cooperated with the investigation, was sentenced to 21 years in a separate hearing.
