Nico Hulkenberg Suffers Minor Eye Injury During Bahrain Testing

Nico Hulkenberg, the Sauber driver, faced a minor medical incident during the first day of Formula One pre-season testing in Bahrain, when a speck of dust got stuck in his eye while grinding work was being done on his car. Although he completed 55 laps before the incident and was expected to participate in a press conference, he instead received treatment at the circuit's medical center. Fortunately, he was cleared to return to the track the following day, logging another 56 laps. Sky Sports F1 reporter Ted Kravitz noted concerns about Hulkenberg's body language during the session, suggesting that his performance might have been affected. The team's rookie driver, Gabriel Bortoleto, stepped in during Hulkenberg's absence, ensuring that testing continued smoothly. This incident comes as Sauber prepares for a significant transition in 2025 when they will become Audi's works team.
