Lionsgate Adds Four Tributes to Hunger Games Prequel Cast

Lionsgate has announced the addition of four new cast members to the highly anticipated Hunger Games prequel film, The Hunger Games: Sunrise on The Reaping, set 24 years before the original trilogy. Laura Marcus will play Silka, a career tribute from District 1; Percy Daggs IV portrays Ampert, son of Beetee and a tribute from District 3; Rada Rae is cast as Wellie, a tribute from District 6; and Jhaleil Swaby plays Panache, another career tribute from District 1. The film, directed by Francis Lawrence and penned by Billy Ray, features a star-studded ensemble including Glenn Close, Kieran Culkin, Elle Fanning, Ralph Fiennes, Kelvin Harrison Jr., Maya Hawke, Jesse Plemons, and Billy Porter. The story centers on the Fiftieth Hunger Games, also known as the Second Quarter Quell, highlighting a young Haymitch Abernathy, played by Joseph Zada. Scheduled for release on November 20, 2026, Sunrise on The Reaping is produced by Nina Jacobson and Brad Simpson, continuing to expand the franchise’s exploration of Panem's dark history.
