Hamilton Prosecutor Plans Review Announcement on Fatal Ryan Hinton Police Shooting

Hamilton County Prosecutor Connie Pillich is set to release the findings of the investigation into the fatal police shooting of 18-year-old Ryan Hinton, who was shot on May 1 after fleeing from a stolen vehicle with a gun in his possession. Body camera footage shows Hinton retrieving a gun he dropped and running toward an officer, who fired shots believing Hinton pointed the weapon at him. The Hamilton County coroner confirmed Hinton sustained three gunshot wounds, including a fatal shot to the left side of his chest that pierced the heart. Following the shooting, Hinton's father, Rodney Hinton, allegedly retaliated by intentionally running over and killing retired Deputy Larry Henderson, who was working a traffic detail nearby, and he has been charged with murder. The coroner's report clarified that while Hinton was shot on the sides of his body, the precise direction of the shots remains unclear, and toxicology results regarding substances found in Hinton's system have not yet been released. Hinton's family disputes the police account, claiming he was running away when shot, and has sought an independent autopsy as part of their investigation.
