Renowned Miami Attorney Roy Black Dies at 80
Roy Black, a legendary Miami defense attorney, died at age 80 at his Coral Gables home after battling illness. Black became nationally known after securing the acquittal of William Kennedy Smith in the highly publicized 1991 rape trial. Over his career, he represented high-profile clients such as Jeffrey Epstein, Justin Bieber, Helio Castroneves, Rush Limbaugh, and drug kingpin Sal Magluta. He was widely praised as the 'GOAT' of defense lawyers for his work ethic, legal skill, and influence on criminal defense. Black was also a longtime educator at the University of Miami School of Law and authored the book "Black’s Law." He is survived by his wife Lea, son RJ, daughter Nora, and his law partners.
