Multiple U.S. Cities Open Housing Assistance Waitlists

Several U.S. housing assistance programs have recently opened application periods. Buncombe County, North Carolina launched the 2025 Homeowner Grant Program, offering grants up to $500 for Asheville residents and $300 for others to help with property taxes, mortgages, or insurance, including for mobile home owners, if they meet residency and income requirements. In Memphis, Tennessee, the Housing Authority opened the waitlist for its Project-Based Voucher program at 11 sites, but submitting an application does not guarantee housing assistance. Honolulu, Hawaii has opened its Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waitlist for eligible low-income households, accepting applications online with recipients chosen by lottery. The Honolulu vouchers cover rental costs at participating landlords, with tenants paying 30% of their adjusted income. These programs aim to provide financial relief and housing support to low-income individuals and families.
