Iran Doubles Military Exercises Amid Tensions

Iran's armed forces have nearly doubled their annual winter military exercises in response to regional tensions and the impending return of Donald Trump to the U.S. presidency. Approximately 30 drills, involving land, air, and maritime operations across six provinces, are set to continue until mid-March, according to Brigadier General Ali Mohammad Naeini. These exercises aim to address 'new threats' and will include activities near the Natanz nuclear facility and the strategically important Strait of Hormuz. The increased military activity is a reaction to Israel's recent military actions and the U.S.'s potential resumption of the 'maximum pressure' campaign against Iran, including sanctions tied to its nuclear program. Naeini emphasized that while Iran will not initiate conflict, it will respond decisively to any threats.
