Russian Airstrikes Kill Civilians, Damage Homes Across Ukraine

Russian forces launched extensive attacks across Ukraine on June 21 and 22, deploying hundreds of drones, ballistic missiles, and cruise missiles targeting multiple regions including Donetsk, Chernihiv, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Kherson. These strikes resulted in at least four civilian deaths and dozens of injuries, alongside significant damage to residential buildings, infrastructure, and vehicles. Ukrainian air defenses successfully intercepted a large portion of the aerial assault, shooting down many drones and using electronic warfare to neutralize others. Notably, the deadliest attacks occurred in Sloviansk and Kramatorsk in Donetsk Oblast, where airstrikes destroyed homes and apartment buildings, trapping residents under rubble. Despite ongoing Russian efforts to advance westward and capture key areas like villages near Kupiansk and Zaporizhzhia, Ukrainian forces continue to resist and repel many attacks. The conflict remains intense as Russia seeks to disrupt daily life and pressure Ukraine politically, while the U.S. under President Trump has shifted some military focus to the Middle East, withholding new aid for Ukraine.
