Maharashtra has launched its first solar energy project under the Mukhyamantri Saur Krishi Vahini Yojana 2.0 (MSKVY 2.0), providing daytime electricity to 1,753 farmers in Dhondalgaon village. The 3 MW project, developed on 13 acres of public land, was completed in just four and a half months and is part of a broader initiative to develop solar projects with a total capacity of 9,200 MW by December 2025. This initiative aims to address the longstanding demand for daytime power supply for agricultural pumps across the state. The project is connected to a 33 KV substation and will benefit farmers in surrounding areas including Nalegaon, Amanatpurwadi, and Sanjapurwadi. The Maharashtra government plans to further expand MSKVY 2.0 to a total capacity of 16,000 MW, ensuring all agriculture pumps receive daytime power. This development signifies a significant step towards renewable energy proliferation in the region.
