Yared Nuguse Honored at Manual High School

Olympic bronze medalist Yared Nuguse returned to his alma mater, duPont Manual High School, to celebrate his recent achievements, including finishing third in the men's 1500-meter race at the 2024 Paris Olympics. During the event, it was announced that the school's annual cross-country championship will be renamed the Yared Nuguse JCPS Championships in his honor. Nuguse expressed gratitude for the support he received from his community, saying it made his journey feel more real. He reminisced about his high school days and emphasized the importance of enjoying the sport rather than just focusing on performance. Nuguse, who holds several American records in middle-distance running, is also considering a future career in dentistry post-competition. The first race under the new championship name is scheduled for October 17 at Tom Sawyer Park.
