Oilers Win Game 1 in Florida with OT Comeback
The Edmonton Oilers staged a dramatic comeback to defeat the Florida Panthers 4-3 in overtime in Florida, taking Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. Leon Draisaitl scored early and netted the game-winning power-play goal with 31 seconds left in overtime, following a penalty by Florida’s Tomas Nosek. Connor McDavid assisted on the tying goal by Mattias Ekholm in the third period, and goaltender Stuart Skinner made 29 saves, including key stops in overtime. A failed goalie interference challenge by Edmonton preceded a Panthers goal, adding to the game's drama. Florida entered the matchup with a perfect playoff record when leading after the first or second period under coach Paul Maurice, but Edmonton snapped that streak after trailing 3-1. The Oilers now lead the series 1-0, with Game 2 set to take place in Edmonton.
