The Maryland State Board of Elections has initiated the distribution of over 660,000 mail-in ballots for the upcoming general election, with more than 578,000 ballots mailed and about 91,000 available electronically. Voters can expect to receive their mail-in ballots within five days, and they are encouraged to submit their requests as soon as possible—by October 29 for mail delivery and November 1 for web delivery. Additionally, 286 ballot drop boxes have been installed across the state to facilitate the return of completed ballots, which must be submitted by November 5 at 8 p.m. State Administrator Jared DeMarinis emphasized the convenience and security of mail-in voting, highlighting its growing popularity since the pandemic. Marylanders also have the option of early voting from October 24 to October 31 or voting in person on Election Day, November 5. Meanwhile, Virginia Beach faces a printing error affecting about 7,400 mail-in ballots, prompting officials to reprint and redistribute corrected ballots promptly.
