Liverpool plans UK's first floating Padel courts

Liverpool is set to host the UK’s first floating padel courts at Princes Dock, with plans submitted to the city council for a facility featuring three courts and a clubhouse. Padel, a rapidly growing racquet sport that combines elements of tennis and squash, will be showcased in this innovative setting designed by international experts, including Ville Leisti of Floating Padel Oy. The courts will be constructed on a floating platform from Finland, while the clubhouse will offer a bar, kitchen, and a scenic decked seating area for players and spectators. With over 700 padel courts already in the UK, this unique facility aims to attract enthusiasts and further popularize the sport, supported by notable athletes like Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk. The project represents Liverpool's commitment to innovative leisure developments, following the recent opening of a floating sauna at the same dock. If approved, the floating padel courts could open by late summer 2025.
