Californian Teacher Dies in Greek Hiking Accident

Clara Thomann, a 33-year-old pregnant science teacher from Goleta, California, tragically died after falling approximately 164 feet into a gorge while hiking in Crete, Greece, on December 23. Despite being rescued and initially conscious, she succumbed to her injuries, which included severe fractures to her chest and skull, leading to brain death. Her unborn child, named Theodoro, also perished in the accident. Family, friends, and students have expressed profound grief and shared tributes, highlighting her kindness and love for teaching. Thomann's husband, Elliot Finn, was present during the hike and has since spread her ashes in Greece and Turkey, celebrating her life and passions.
