This leadership change is part of the board's long-term succession planning and comes after reports of underperforming results during Davis's tenure, including a 4% drop in profit in 2023. Davis played a significant role in the merger that created TelevisaUnivision and the launch of its ViX streaming service, which has gained traction with 50 million monthly active users. The transition is expected to enhance the company's strategic focus on integrating its linear and streaming platforms. Alegre's multilingual capabilities and expertise in Latin American markets are seen as assets for the company's growth.
