Nathan Buckley Reveals Girlfriend's Epilepsy Diagnosis

AFL legend Nathan Buckley has publicly revealed that his girlfriend, Brodie Ryan, has been battling epilepsy, a condition she discovered as an adult. Speaking at an event for the 'Walk for Epilepsy' campaign, Buckley shared details about Ryan's seizures over the past few years, emphasizing the stigma surrounding the disorder and the need for public awareness. He noted that Ryan's condition has been difficult to understand, as she has gone from 'operating fine' to experiencing seizures that disrupt her daily life. Buckley, who was previously unaware of epilepsy, aims to support Ryan in managing her health challenges while collaborating with other AFL greats, including Neil Balme, who suffers from epilepsy. Balme highlighted the importance of raising awareness for the condition, which affects approximately one in 25 people. By sharing their experiences, Buckley and others hope to encourage a greater understanding of epilepsy and reduce the associated stigma.
