Thailand Offers 200,000 Free Domestic Flights to International Visitors from China, Malaysia, Russia, India, South Korea
Thailand has launched an ambitious tourism initiative called "Buy International, Fly Domestic Free," offering 200,000 free domestic round-trip flights to international visitors who book long-haul flights to the country. Targeting travelers from China, Malaysia, Russia, India, South Korea, and other key markets such as the United States, Canada, Australia, Singapore, and Japan, the program aims to encourage exploration beyond the usual tourist hotspots to lesser-known destinations. Backed by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports with a budget of approximately USD 21.5 million, the initiative covers domestic flights valued at around USD 107 each, including a 20 kg baggage allowance. Participating airlines include Thai Airways, Bangkok Airways, Thai AirAsia, Nok Air, Thai Lion Air, and VietJet Thailand, providing travelers a wide range of options to discover the country’s cultural diversity and scenic landscapes. The program, running from September to November 2025, seeks to alleviate congestion in popular areas while distributing tourism revenue more evenly across urban centers and peripheral communities. Thailand’s tourism sector continues to thrive, having welcomed over 11 million international visitors by April 2025, contributing significantly to the national economy.
