China, Indonesia Launch Strategic Dialogue in Beijing

China and Indonesia have deepened their bilateral relationship by holding their first joint '2+2' dialogue between foreign and defense ministers in Beijing, marking a new level of strategic mutual trust and cooperation. The two countries pledged to jointly safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea, expand security and maritime cooperation, and accelerate consultations on a Code of Conduct for the region. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the multilateral trading system, resisting trade protectionism, and defending the interests of the Global South amid global trade tensions. China and Indonesia agreed to establish new consultation mechanisms on disarmament and arms control, boost law enforcement collaboration, and combat transnational crimes. The dialogue reflects an upgraded cooperation framework, adding security as a fifth pillar to their previously established four-pillar partnership, and underscores both nations' intent to promote regional stability and economic integration. Indonesian officials emphasized the importance of strengthening political trust and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in line with the strategic vision set by the leaders of both countries.
