British Artist RAYE Awarded First Ivors Academy Honour for Songwriter Campaign

RAYE, a multi-award-winning British songwriter and artist, will be the first recipient of the Ivors Academy Honour in recognition of her influential campaigning for fair treatment and better pay for songwriters and composers. She has been a vocal advocate for addressing the power imbalance between artists and labels, pushing for transparency and equitable compensation in the streaming era. RAYE's efforts contributed to a landmark government-backed agreement introducing a £75 per diem for songwriters and session musicians, supported by major labels including Universal, Sony, and Warner. The Ivors Academy Honours ceremony, celebrating those driving positive change in the music industry, will take place on October 2, 2025, in London. RAYE has also publicly shared her own challenges with record labels, transitioning to independent distribution and releasing her critically acclaimed debut album in 2023.
