The National Toy Hall of Fame has announced 12 finalists for induction this year, including balloons, which are celebrated for their versatility. Other first-time nominees are the trampoline and the party game Apples to Apples, while perennial favorites like My Little Pony and Transformers are also in the running. Voting for the finalists will take place from September 18 to 25, allowing the public to select favorites that will form a 'Player’s Choice' ballot. The final inductees will be determined by a combination of public votes and selections from a panel of experts. Christopher Bensch, the Hall's vice president, noted that this year's nominees reflect a broad spectrum of play experiences. Since its inception in 1998, the Hall has recognized over 80 toys for their enduring impact on play culture.
