19-Year-Old Man Fatally Shot Near Queens Home; No Arrests Yet
Jean Rios, a 19-year-old man, was fatally shot in the chest near 64th Road and Grand Central Parkway in the Forest Hills neighborhood of Queens. The shooting occurred around 7:40 p.m., and Rios, who lived just a few blocks from the scene, was rushed to New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital where he was pronounced dead. Authorities reported that three males were seen fleeing the area on foot or moped, but no arrests have been made as the investigation remains ongoing. Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz was present at the scene, where police had cordoned off the area with caution tape. Police have requested the public's assistance in providing tips to help identify suspects. The incident has drawn attention due to the normally quiet nature of the neighborhood and ongoing concerns about violent crime in the area.
