SF IDs Three Possible Suspects in Child Assault

A child was sexually assaulted inside a public restroom near the Polo Fields in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park during youth soccer practice on Oct. 23; the incident was reported to SFPD at about 5:30 p.m. Investigators have identified three possible suspects and are expediting DNA analysis to try to confirm an identity, and the suspect(s) remain at large. SFPD has classified the case as a high-priority investigation, increased patrols in the Richmond District and asked the public to call 415-575-4444 or text TIP411 with tips. The Recreation and Park Department stationed a ranger during afternoon practices, increased spot checks and installed a security camera near the restrooms. San Francisco Youth Soccer urged teams to have players use restrooms in groups and said it will work with city agencies to keep players safe. Community members have expressed shock and concern as investigators continue gathering evidence and searching for the assailant.
