Despite his guilty plea, Baker avoided a conviction and was placed on a nine-month good behavior bond, with the magistrate noting his remorse and cooperation during the proceedings. Magistrate Kathy Crittenden remarked that Baker was unlikely to offend again and cited character references presented in court. The incident occurred shortly after a widespread IT outage that affected police systems, which led to an old-fashioned sobriety test being administered.
