Country music artist Phil Vassar, 62, revealed he suffered a heart attack and stroke in early 2023, during which he 'dropped dead' twice for a total of 30 minutes with no heartbeat. Despite leading a healthy lifestyle with no drinking or fried foods, Vassar attributed his medical emergencies to hereditary heart disease. The heart attack occurred at home, where he was revived by paramedics who shocked him 11 times, resulting in cracked ribs, and he later experienced a stroke while hospitalized. Vassar expressed gratitude for the medical response that saved his life, stating, 'Thank goodness for medicine.' Since his recovery, he has resumed performing, completing 100 shows in 2023, and reflected on the life-changing impact of his near-death experiences on his music and outlook on life.
