Katee Sackhoff Reveals Three-Year Hiatus Following Mandalorian Role

Actress Katee Sackhoff revealed that playing Bo-Katan Kryze in the live-action series The Mandalorian deeply affected her confidence and led to a nearly three-year hiatus from on-screen acting. Although she originally voiced Bo-Katan in animated series like Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Sackhoff struggled to connect with the live-action version of the character, describing the role as something that "broke her" and made her doubt her abilities. She explained that Bo-Katan's motivations and personality felt foreign to her, which contrasted with her usual approach to acting and caused her to lose faith in her auditioning skills. To regain her confidence, Sackhoff enlisted a new manager and acting coach who focused on helping her reconnect with her instincts rather than teaching her new acting techniques. Since then, she has returned to work primarily through voice roles, including reprising Bo-Katan in an upcoming Star Wars: Tales of the Empire episode, and has taken on limited live-action roles such as an episode of Law & Order and the film Fight or Flight. Additionally, she recently joined the cast of an Amazon MGM adaptation of Stephen King's Carrie, signaling a resurgence in her career.
