Tim Stokely, founder of OnlyFans, has launched Subs.com, a new global subscription platform designed to serve a broad range of creators including podcasters, athletes, musicians, influencers, and adult content creators. Subs aims to differentiate itself by offering a mobile-first, brand-friendly environment that combines video hosting, paid subscriptions, and one-on-one interactions like audio and video calls, which Stokely describes as a "lucrative new revenue stream." The platform features an Instagram-like Explore feed and a YouTube-style Shows feature, both ad-free, to help creators build audiences more easily and convert viewers into paying subscribers. Subs uses AI-powered content moderation and rigorous age and identity verification to ensure safety and compliance, especially given challenges around adult content not being allowed on Apple and Google app stores, leading to a web app launch instead of native apps. Creators will receive 80% of earnings, similar to OnlyFans, and can earn additional income through referral programs and revenue sharing with other creators. Stokely emphasizes that Subs is not just an iteration of previous platforms but offers unique features to help creators monetize more effectively while addressing prior difficulties in audience building on platforms like OnlyFans.
