Vikings Place LB Cashman, RB Chandler on Injured Reserve
The Minnesota Vikings face significant setbacks after their 27-24 comeback victory against the Chicago Bears, as linebacker Blake Cashman and running back/kick returner Ty Chandler were placed on injured reserve, sidelining them for at least four games. Cashman, the team's primary defensive signal-caller known for his versatility in rushing the passer, coverage, and run stopping, left the game with a hamstring injury and is expected to be replaced by veteran Eric Wilson, who has already contributed on special teams. Chandler, who suffered a knee injury but played through it during the game, was a key special teams player, returning three kickoffs for 84 yards, including a critical late return to manage the clock. The Vikings are also monitoring several other players with injuries or health issues, including safety Harrison Smith and cornerback Jeff Okudah, as they prepare for their Week 2 home opener against the Atlanta Falcons. The team has promoted tight end Nick Vannett and receiver Tim Jones from the practice squad to bolster the roster. Despite these challenges, the Vikings remain 1-0 and will look to build on their momentum in the upcoming Sunday Night Football game at U.S. Bank Stadium.
